Job Description

We currently have the above position available at our flexible packaging printing facility and wish to invite all suitably qualified applicants to submit their details for our consideration.

The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating and expediting the flow of work within or between departments according to daily and weekly production schedules.

Key responsibilities:

  • Update daily production figures for all departments on the Prism system.
  • Manage order confirmations based on production capacity and raw material availability.
  • Communicate with Logistics and Sales when orders are placed without available materials or when materials are on order.
  • Ensure all orders are confirmed within 48 hours.
  • Compile and distribute the weekly capacity report (every Thursday).
  • Calculate and share planning-related information with the Planning department.
  • Load Varex stock based on demand requirements.
  • Plan daily slitting production.
  • Liaise with the Supervisor (Material Handler) regarding materials for Printing, Lamination, and Slitting.
  • Report any production constraints or issues affecting schedules.
  • Record reasons for all work orders that miss OTIF (On-Time-In-Full) targets.
  • Remove outdated production plans from departments daily.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Senior Planner.
  • Analyse production data, including performance trends.
  • Investigate short makes and production variances.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects.
  • Act as stand-in for the Senior Planner during periods of leave.
  • Assist with additional tasks and duties as required.

To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the following requirements:

  • A Grade 12 qualification
  • A tertiary qualification will be advantageous
  • A minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in production planning
  • Experience within a flexible packaging environment will be advantageous
  • An understanding of parameters and variables that needs to be considered when planning
  • An understanding of the basic operations equipment / machinery used during the production process
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook, and ERP systems
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Excellent problem solving and organisational skills
  • Excellent administrative skills
